Mom and I left up here about 12:30, taking a direct route down and winding up at the camp within 2 hours. It was about 2:30 when we finally got down there, and everybody was just starting to arrive.
Most of the guys, including my cousin Wade, were playing 'secret service' with a bunch of walkie-talkies, making sure everything went smoothly.
"All units, the cake has left the building." ^^
I think they had a lot of fun with that. The bride and her bridesmaids were all wearing pretty gowns, real simple ones, and everything was great.
The wedding itself was perfect, not too short or too long, and quite touching. Jeff was making funny faces while he was up there, so the audience got to laugh a few times.
The reception was longer than the wedding, as always, and we got to socialize with everybody. I met some of my distant relatives, including this really nice guy named Greg. We talked, and exchanged e-mail addresses. We'll stay in contact, I hope. ^^
It got to be about 5 when mom and I began to feel a bit partied out, so we decided it might be a good idea to head for home. At about 5:30, we said our good-byes and began the long drive back up to Bangor. No stops this time, no road work to deal with. It was a bit faster coming back home, and we reached town at about 7.
Came home and changed, then took a nice long nap. Needed it.
On the way coming down, we stopped at the Irving Mainway in..I forget the name of the place, but oh well. ^^; We stopped to get food and for mom to use the restroom...but one problem.
There was a sign on the door to the restroom: out of order. ^^;
So, we bought a bag of chips for the ride and headed back out. Luckily, there were bathrooms provided for the occasion, so we just used those. ^^;
All in all, my very first experience with a wedding went really well, and I hope that it goes about the same in September with my other cousin's wedding. ^^ Jeff's on mom and Aunt Paula's side, and Joanna is on dad and Aunt Bonnie's.
Oh, and in honor of my uncle, Aunt Paula has a little white plush dog named, ironically, White Dog. Today, he was wearing a little floral ribbon in the colors of the wedding party, with my uncle's wedding ring and a little medal that just had an E on it.
Back a few months ago, he was wearing black. He's out of mourning, Aunt Paula says.
Well, I figured you all would like to hear about the event, and some of the high humor points of the day. First thing I did when I got back to the car to go home was take off my dress shoes. Those things hurt after a while, geez.
Well, I go off to Jessi-ca's tomorrow, and expect to see her LJ up and running on basic mode after during that time. ^^ Maybe if it goes well, we can get her a spiffy layout like what Carlin's got or something. We'll have to see what she thinks of it, first.
Yeah, long entry, I know, but I had a lot to say. ^^
Niters, all...sleep well, have dreams, and may all your best wishes come true. Laters, all!
